I founded AIFirstPartner, a consulting practice that helps organisations design and ship production AI systems. Clients are in government, legal, and enterprise. I've shipped 12 production AI systems to date.
I'm fractional CTO at Speculo, a cyber risk software company. The work there is the other side of AI in the enterprise: how you build software people can actually trust with sensitive data.
My day role is managing cloud and data platform engineering for a large Australian government department supporting 20+ agencies across the portfolio. That is where the 15+ years of enterprise experience comes from, and it is the context that shapes how I think about AI in risk-sensitive environments.

Building these tools and working with AI in enterprise, I kept seeing the same pattern: the gap between people who get great results from AI and people who don't isn't about which tool they use or how clever their prompts are. It's about how they think about the collaboration.
Most AI education falls into two camps: hype-driven overviews that tell you AI will change everything (but not how), or deeply technical prompt engineering courses that teach tricks for one tool.
Neither teaches the foundational skill: AI fluency — the ability to work with any AI tool effectively, evaluate its output critically, and take responsibility for the results.
